RKI (Danish credit register)
Also known as danish credit register, credit reference agency, rki listing, ribers, rki-registrering, debitor registret
RKI is a credit reference agency where bad payers are registered — today part of Experian.
In practice
“Ending up in RKI” is what most people associate debt collection with. The register is one of several credit reference agencies in Denmark, and a listing is visible to anyone who credit-checks the debtor from that point on.
For the creditor, the register is two things: a lever in your own cases, and a source when assessing new customers. Both depend on your organisation contributing to it correctly.
Where it commonly goes wrong
- The listing is used as a threat rather than as a consequence. There is a reason for the rules on when a debtor may be registered.
